If not for the band Mother Love Bone, and it’s consequent demise following the untimely death of singer Andrew Wood, Pearl Jam would possibly never have made its way onto the music scene in the 1990’s. The members of Pearl Jam recognized this fact in the best way they knew how; by taking part in a tribute project, also known as Temple of the Dog, to the deceased front-man.
Perhaps it is fitting that a band with the talents of Pearl Jam should have started out on such a sad note. It seems to have paved the way for the sheer tenacity, grace, and heart they have drawn on throughout their long and involved history to become one of the best known rock bands around today. Out of tragedy comes triumph, and they’ve proved it.
