Madonna was born in Michigan on August 16th, 1958. One of several children, the large family no doubt had an influence on her ability to stand out in a crowd. After her mother’s passing, when Madonna was just six years old, her father eventually remarried and the family grew some more. As she got older she found her passion and escape in dance, drama, and cheerleading. Excelling in school helped to open some doors, such as a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan; but without question she has proven that she has the drive, grit, and determination to keep them open. Madonna followed the advice of her college dance instructor with a bold move to New York City at the age of nineteen to further develop her career. That first step to leave her comfort zone has become typical of the woman herself and she never ceases to amaze fans on a global scale. Madonna’s success did not happen overnight; had it done so we probably would’ve seen her star fizzle long ago. Just a few months shy of her 50th birthday, once again she’ll take center stage, using her distinctive talents to keep us enthralled and begging for more.
